Highly Qualified Staff

No Child Left Behind Law requires all paraprofessional (educational assistants) to meet minimum qualifications of having an associate’s degree, or completing two years of college, or meeting a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal State or local assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing and math, reading readiness, writing readiness, or mathematics readiness.

 

Classroom teachers also must meet minimum professional qualifications. Parents may request information regard HQ qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade level in which their teacher provides instruction, the baccalaureate degree major and any other graduate certification or degree held by their teacher and the field of discipline of the certification or degree, and if their child is provided services by paraprofessional and their minimum qualifications.

No Child Left Behind Rating

Congratulations to our students, families, teachers, and staff! We recently received the results of the high-stakes Hawaii State Assessments (HAS) that students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 took throughout last year. Although jour students’ scores did not meet the state benchmarks and Ewa Beach Elementary received the rating of “not met” for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), our students made some nice academic gains. Our NCLB rating is “In Good Standing, Pending.” This is still a very high rating. Great job, everyone!
